Once she was back in the water, she swam around to see if Destan was where she left him. After she surfaced, she pushed her hair back and saw him sitting in the sand. She hated lying to him, but she couldn't tell him her family would be more than worried. They would be angry she was talking to a human. Angry enough to use sea foam on both of them even if she hadn't told him anything.
One last look at him, she dove beneath the water and cried. Why couldn't she be human?
