So I always include a little bit of history in each book. This one has The War to End all Wars aka World War I. Of course, I had to do some studying.

Favorite Scenes
One of my favorite parts of Cursed Soldier was writing the letters between Kathyrn and her soldier. They were full of love, war, and heartbreak. They were not the focus or even the main love story but I loved the contrast of modern day versus the 1860s. Here is one of the letters.
Dear Kathryn, September 1864
I pray a cease-fire or surrender comes soon. The men are weary and tired. I am weary and tired and ready to not wear this un...iform. The day the war ends, I never want to put it on again. All I can see when I look at it is the faces of all the men that have died because of this war. This uniform is cursed.
It does not feel like it has been that long. Everyday feels like I just stepped off that battlefield. The black cloud is still there just not as black. I guess it is more of a gray than anything else. I know what you mean about the war seeming to only have started, but then again, it being forever long. I see your face every day in my dreams and thoughts, but I cannot touch you or even talk to you. I am only allowed these letters.
I know that you love me and want me to ask for help. If I knew how to ask, then I would. This state of mind and body that I am in has me tied on how to ask for help. Hopefully, when I come home I will know how to ask. Please just pray that God will show me the way. Do not question your beliefs. I understand more now than I did that day I left. We will discuss everything when I see you again. Please do not fret over this; I will be home once this war is over. I love you.

Favorite Scenes
Here is one of the opening scenes of Cursed Soldier. You get to see Alexandra at work in her element. Each book requires research on the subject. Since I'd never been to Gettysburg before writing this book, I had to study the tour route to know exactly where Alex would tell her tour group this. Once I got to visit the battlefield, I got to replay this scene in my mind. It's not often you can visit a place that you write about.
"Here we are at Cemetery Ridge. At this stop, yo...u will see what is called the High Water mark of the Confederacy. It is said to represent the closest the South ever came to its goal of achieving independence from the Union, via military victory. This part of the battle is called Pickett's Charge, for Major General George Pickett. Years later, when asked why his charge failed, Pickett replied that he always thought the Yankees had something to do with it." Alex stated, as the tourists laughed, the bus stopped to let them off to check out the precise spot. Alex stepped out and looked over the land laid out before her.
